Marc Warner, Ph.D.

 

Marc G. Warner brings over 30 years of transportation experience and education to his consulting practice. He has researched or managed a broad spectrum of transportation studies, from quick analyses of alternative transit alignments, to year-long investigations as part of federal research. He is among the country's leading forecasters of travel demand in response to road or rail system changes, and his transportation background and statistical expertise allow him to bring technical purity and user practicality to projects involving all types of transportation market research. Clients and staff at regulatory or funding agencies such as the Federal Transit Administration know that Marc Warner does his analyses with the highest level of integrity.

Prior to starting Warner Transportation Consulting in 1992, Marc Warner received a doctorate in Transportation Systems from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bucknell University and a Masters of Public Policy and Management from Carnegie-Mellon University.

Mr. Warner has worked on the staff of New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and was an Associate in the Transportation Consulting Division of Booz-Allen & Hamilton. He has taught the graduate course Transportation Policy and Planning Analysis at the University of Massachusetts, and the graduate-level Urban Transportation Analysis course at Northeastern University. While a graduate student at MIT, he was the teaching assistant in Professor Moshe Ben-Akiva's course on Transportation Demand Modeling.

Marc Warner has written dozens of client reports and has made numerous client and public presentations. He has managed more than 50 consulting projects (some with contract values exceeding $250,000). He has trained and served as a mediator; and was certified as an arbitrator by the American Arbitration Association (expired). From 2003 to 2023, Mr. Warner served on the Board of Directors of Common Cause of Massachusetts, and was also that organization's treasurer. He speaks conversational Spanish and some French. He lives in Northampton, Massachusetts with his wife Bonnie and his sons Jeff and Douglas.
